With
an aim of lighting up the lives of others, the management and students of
Dawood Public School held a mesmerizing two-day event to raise funds for Lady
Dufferin Hospital. The event, named Festival of Lights, was open to the public
on the last weekend of January. Hundreds of families came out and visited the
festival to help the deserving patients of Lady Dufferin Hospital with their
funds.
The
idea behind this festival was to keep the beauty of Karachi in mind and since
Karachi is called the City of Lights, no other festival could match up to the
name other than a festival filled with beautiful lights of different colors.
The event was sponsored by Engro Foundation and took place on the campus of
Dawood Public School. The attendees of the event were fascinated and amazed at
the amount of hard work that went into making it such a huge success.
Entering
into the school made people feel like they were in an enchanted heaven. The
entire campus was decorated with displays of light. From flowers to trucks, and
from the garden to the walls, every part of the school was covered in lights
that attracted visitors throughout.
The
uniqueness of the festival was visible in every single performance and display,
and was definitely not something to miss out on. Many of those who were unable
to attend the festival had the opportunity of viewing the video posted by
Dawood Public School after the event. The video is again extremely mesmerizing
and makes one wish to be there and live the moments that can be seen. Little
girls dressed as fairies were waving their wands, while a few girls were
cycling around with neon lights on the wheels of their bikes. As this was
happening on one end, some talented students went on to perform with their lit
up hula-hoops. The video shows some mini-trains and small horse carriages
decorated in the most amazing way, taking visitors on a tour of the campus.
As
the video is played, you get to see fascinating fire performances by
professional groups and dancers dawned in jackets outlined with LED lights
performing in the dark. Students holding LED balloons and pick-up trucks with a
dinosaur and house among many other light displays are also seen in the video.
The event ended with fireworks that delighted everyone who was there.
The
aim of this event was not only to raise funds for Lady Dufferin Hospital, but
also to teach students about kindness and their responsibility toward the
society. The students set up stalls and all the revenue generated was donated
to the hospital. The student and
management of DPS were extremely successful in their valiant efforts of
bringing light back to Karachi and in raising funds.
